The year 2009 brought many favorable changes for Survival Resources, not only in product development, but in consulting agreements and private training. In order to concentrate on our core business, product development and sales, as well as our consulting & private training agreements, we have made a very difficult decision to no longer offer open enrollment courses in 2010.
However, this page is being left up as a testimonial to the fun we had with open enrollment students taught at our school.
Our "Outdoor Skills Education Center" located at "Camp Cedar Grove," 200 acres of wooded land in Verona, NY (just east of Syracuse).
Our Open-Air Classroom Our Field Kitchen When we first decided to offer outdoor skills courses, we noticed that many of the available schools offered various extended programs of a week or more. Because of various budget and time constraints, not everyone could attend an extended course. But we realized they still needed to learn. For this reason, in order to accommodate everyone, we designed various types of courses so everyone could learn skills on their budget and time schedule. SEMINARS Seminars were offered as a part of an on going education for those who had minimal time or budget. Seminars where offered at various locations as well as at a clients business premises.

OUTDOOR SKILLS COURSES
Outdoor Skills Courses are longer in duration than seminars. They are more intensive, with more "Hands-On" practice of technique by students. Students left these courses with more confidence in their ability to actually use their new skills. Our Survival Skills Weekend Course was featured in the "Escape" section of The New York Times on August 1st, 2008. For more information on that article, click here. In the field classroom lectures provides the basics for the topics being taught .
Instructors demonstrate the techniques first so students could see how it's done.
Students then go into the field to learn practical application, so they learned by doing.
When students complete projects, they demonstrate and test them.
Each evening , students sit around the campfire and discuss lessons and make pine needle tea.
All courses end with a certificate ceremony. This entire website is Copyrighted © 2005-2010 by Survival Resources. All Rights Reserved. |
