We offer Outdoor Survival Skills Courses for people who enjoy exploring the wilderness, as well as Urban Survival Skills Courses for people who travel, or must take charge of their families lives during an emergency situation.
Our offices are located in the Hudson Valley, New York State, however, most of our Seminars, and Training Programs are conducted at "Camp Cedar Grove," 200 acres of wooded land in Verona, NY (just east of Syracuse), or at a client's location.

Our Open-Air Classroom Our Field Kitchen When we first decided to offer survival courses, we noticed that many of the available survival schools offered various extended programs of a week or more. Because of various budget and time constraints, not everyone can attend an extended course. But we realized they still needed training. For this reason, in order to accommodate everyone, we have designed various types of survival courses so everyone can learn survival on their budget and time schedule. Our philosophy and strategy for providing courses is always evolving. We have had excellent success offering custom courses to organizations, academic institutions, various agencies, and private groups. These courses can be scheduled to accommodate both the clients needs and our availability. Because of minimum enrollment requirements necessary to conduct a course, we have on occasion had to cancel a scheduled class because minimum enrollment was not met. This is not the case when being hired by a group or other client. We have actually conducted more Survival Skills Weekend courses for groups that have retained us, than for those that were regularly scheduled. Therefore, we will be minimizing scheduled courses in order to provide specific training for those who provide guaranteed enrollment. We break our courses into two individual areas; Seminars, and Survival Courses. The following will explain each of these areas as well as detail the advantages and disadvantages of the program type. SEMINARS Seminars are offered as a part of an on going education for those who have minimal time or budget. Seminars can be offered at various locations as well as at a clients business premises. Seminars are between 1 & 8 hours in length. We have conducted seminars for specialty groups such as search and rescue teams, various organizations, such as the Mohonk Preserve, as well as retail establishments that provide outdoor equipment. Advantages of a seminar is the ability to continue your training a small amount at a time, or only attend those seminar subjects that you desire or require to compliment skills you already have. The disadvantages are seminars usually only provide basic information because of time constraints, and it may take longer to accomplish the skill level you desire. Seminars can accommodate more students than other programs, as the instructor to student ratio is not as critical.

SURVIVAL COURSES
Survival Courses are longer in duration than seminars. They are more intensive, with more "Hands-On" practice of technique by students. Students leave these courses with more confidence in their ability to actually use their new skills during a survival situation. Of course, the advantages are stated above. The disadvantages are the higher cost and time commitment required. Our Survival Skills Weekend Course was featured in the "Escape" section of The New York Times on August 1st, 2008. In the field classroom lectures provide the basics for the topics being taught .
Instructors demonstrate the techniques first so students can see how its done.
Students then go into the field and learn practical application, so they learn by doing.
When students complete projects, they demonstrate and test them.
Each evening , students sit around the campfire and discuss survival and make pine needle tea.
All courses end with a certificate ceremony. The following are Survival Courses that we offer:
Survival Resources maintains the right to cancel seminars, or Survival Courses at any time. Refunds will be made if cancellation is by Survival Resources, but not by students, unless special arrangements are made or in accordance with registration agreement. |
